Le deuxième show de la seconde tournée Américaine de Bowie. Cette fois il revient sur scène sous les traits d'Aladdin Sane, un Ziggy plus sophistiqué et encore plus outrageux !

The second show of this second US tour for Bowie. This time he comes back as 'Aladdin Sane', a more sophisticated Ziggy and much more outrageous too !

Pour cette tournée '73, qui commence pour deux soirs à New York au fameux Radio City Music Hall et qui s'achèvera comme chacun sait au Hammersmith Odeon de Londres le 3 Juillet avec le suicide scénique de Ziggy, Bowie a choisi d'ajouter des musiciens suppléméntaires aux 'Spiders From Mars' originaux :

Bowie has decided for his '73 tour, from these first two nights in New York till the famous London, Hammersmith Odeon show (date of Ziggy retirement) to add new musicians to the original 'Spiders From Mars' :

  - Geoffrey Mc Cormack : Voix, Percussions

  - Ken Fordham : Bariton, Saxophones alto et Tenor

  - John Hutchinson (le compagnon des années '67-'68) : Guitare Rythmique, Voix

  - Brian Wilshaw : Saxophone tenor, Flute

Pour ces deux shows d'ouverture à New York, Bowie avait choisi d'en mettre plein la vue avec un show ultra théâtral. Il avait prévu de jouer la quasi integralité de son nouvel album à venir (sortie prévue pour le mois d'Avril), 'Aladdin Sane', ainsi que les morceaux les plus emblématiques de l'album 'Ziggy'. 

For his New York shows Bowie wanted to entertain as much as possible the audience and decided to go into the songs in a very theatrical way. he had decided he would play the most of the album 'Aladdin Sane' plus the most representative songs from the 'Ziggy' album.

Bowie faisait son entrée sur scène dans une cage descendant lentement vers la scène alors que deux boules miroirs de chaque côté projetaient des milliers d'étoiles dans la salle. Le groupe jetait alors en pature 'Hang On ToYourself' pendant que la scène s'illuminait totalement.

Bowie appeared standing in a cage slowly descending to the stage, while two mirror globes sent splinters of light racing around the auditorium. The whole stage suddenly illuminated in its entirety as the band erupted into 'Hang On To Yourself'.

 Le reste du show donnait lieu à une multitude de changements de costumes de la part de Bowie alors que les musiciens eux aussi sur leur 31 enchainaient les morceaux sur un rythme éffrené.

The rest of the show had Bowie change his costumes very often while a well-dressed group too played thru the songs as would have done...'tigers on vaseline' !

Un des moments les plus magiques survenait juste après 'My Death', où un film mettant en scène un passage en hyperespace était projeté sous un fond de bruitages 'spatiaux' (!), et sur lequel Bowie enchainait directement avec 'The Supermen'...

One of the most magical moment took place at the end of 'My Death'. At that moment a film of the cosmos rushing at the speed of light was shot and immediately after charged into 'The Supermen' with Bowie singing the first verse a capella...

Un show inoubliable pour tous ceux présents ce soir-là, et immortalisé avec cet enregistrement dont la qualité du son est parmi les meilleurs de l'année 1973, malgré parfois une voix un peu lointaine de Bowie...

Well, truly a show never to forget for all those present these nights and immortalized in this recording quality-wise is amongst the best of 1973, despite Bowie's voice sounding sometimes a little far away...
